Q: Czy laserowa korekta wzroku jest możliwa przy opiece nad dzieckiem (niemowlę 6 miesięcy) nie jest możliwe abym nie podnosiła dziecka, mogę jedynie ograniczyć noszenie. Niestety również zaćma ogranicza mi widzenie co bardzo utrudnia funkcjonowanie. Wada wzroku na jednym oku +3, na drugim +2,5, zastanawiam się, czy zabieg jest w ogóle możliwy pół roku po porodzie.

Do laserowej korekcji wzroku można przystąpić po upływie około 6 miesięcy od porodu lub zakończenia karmienia piersią. Jest to czas potrzebny na ustabilizowanie gospodarki hormonalnej, która może wpływać na wyniki badania kwalifikacyjnego. W okresie rekonwalescencji po zabiegu należy unikać dźwigania ciężarów powyżej 5 kg oraz gwałtownego pochylania się, ponieważ może to powodować wzrost ciśnienia wewnątrzgałkowego i wpływać na proces gojenia. W Pani przypadku kluczową informacją jest jednak obecność zaćmy. Jest ona przeciwwskazaniem do laserowej korekcji wzroku, ponieważ pogorszenie widzenia wynika ze zmętnienia soczewki wewnątrzgałkowej, a nie wyłącznie z wady refrakcji. W pierwszej kolejności należy rozważyć leczenie operacyjne zaćmy. Laserowa korekcja wzroku może być ewentualnie wykonana po upływie co najmniej 6 miesięcy od operacji, jeśli będzie konieczne dokorygowanie pozostałej wady wzroku.

Q: Chciałabym wykonać zabieg blefaroplastyki powiek. Jestem osobą przyjezdną i zastanawiam się czy jest możliwość wstępnej kwalifikacji przez video call lub zdjęcia?

Nie przeprowadzamy kwalifikacji do plastyki powiek w formie zdalnej. Ocenę możliwości wykonania zabiegu oraz jego zakresu można przeprowadzić wyłącznie podczas wizyty w gabinecie. Poza dokładnym obejrzeniem okolicy powiek chirurg okulista wykonuje również badanie palpacyjne (dotykowe), które jest niezbędnym elementem kwalifikacji.

Q: Możliwość zakwalifikowania się do laserowej korekcji wzroku Moja wada wzroku wynosi: oko prawe: -2,50D, oko lewe: -2,75D. Czy przy takiej wadzie istnieje możliwość zakwalifikowania się do zabiegu?

Podane wartości wady wzroku mieszczą się w zakresie możliwości korekcji laserowej. O kwalifikacji nie decyduje jednak sama liczba dioptrii, lecz przede wszystkim parametry rogówki oka. Podczas badania kwalifikacyjnego oceniana jest m.in. jej grubość, kształt i krzywizna. Dopiero na podstawie tych pomiarów można określić, czy zabieg będzie możliwy oraz dobrać metodę najlepiej dopasowaną do danego pacjenta.

Q: Czy można umówić się na konkretny termin (w lipcu mam robiony tatuaż i z tego co czytałam trzeba przynajmniej poczekać miesiąc, aby wykonać korekcję wzroku - chyba że to mit)? Drugie pytanie, noszę soczewki kontaktowe, jaki czas wcześniej muszę przestać przed zabiegiem je nosić? Oraz 3 pytanie, po jakim czasie po zabiegu można wrócić do pracy?

Jeśli planuje Pani wykonanie tatuażu, zalecamy zachowanie co najmniej miesięcznego odstępu przed oraz po laserowej korekcji wzroku. W przypadku rozległych tatuaży, obejmujących dużą powierzchnię ciała, okres ten może być dłuższy. Wykonanie tatuażu wiąże się z przerwaniem ciągłości skóry i ryzykiem stanu zapalnego, zakażenia lub reakcji alergicznej, co może niekorzystnie wpływać na proces gojenia po zabiegu. Przed badaniem kwalifikacyjnym oraz zabiegiem należy odstawić miękkie soczewki kontaktowe na minimum 7 dni. W przypadku soczewek torycznych (korygujących astygmatyzm) zalecana przerwa wynosi 3-4 tygodnie. Czas powrotu do pracy zależy od zastosowanej metody laserowej korekcji wzroku oraz charakteru wykonywanego zawodu. Przy pracy biurowej najczęściej zalecamy 7-14 dni przerwy, natomiast przy pracy fizycznej okres zwolnienia może wynosić do około 30 dni.

Q: I am planning to have another child, but I am also considering laser vision correction. Does this mean I would not be able to have a natural childbirth after the procedure?

Laser vision correction does not affect the possibility of having a natural childbirth. The method of delivery is determined primarily by the condition of the retina, particularly in patients with a high refractive error. For this reason, it is advisable to undergo a full ophthalmic examination, including a retinal assessment, before giving birth. If you are planning a pregnancy in the near future, it may be worth considering postponing the procedure until approximately six months after childbirth or after you have finished breastfeeding. This allows the body’s hormonal balance to stabilise, which is important both during the eligibility assessment and throughout the healing process and visual stabilisation following treatment.

Q: Is it necessary to come with someone for laser vision correction surgery? I live around 25 kilometres away and could travel by public transport.

Following laser vision correction, patients must not drive until after their first post-operative check-up. For this reason, we recommend attending the procedure with a companion who can assist you on your journey home. Travelling by public transport is possible; however, it is important to bear in mind that some degree of discomfort may occur immediately after the procedure. Patients are also given mild sedative medication beforehand, and once the anaesthetic drops wear off, symptoms such as watering eyes, light sensitivity, a gritty sensation under the eyelids, or pain may occur, depending on the treatment method used. Having a family member or friend accompany you can therefore make the immediate recovery period significantly more comfortable.

Q: I am travelling to Poland for laser vision correction surgery. Ideally, I would like to have both the consultation and the procedure on the same day, but I am unsure how long I should plan to stay. I noticed that there are different treatment methods listed in the price guide, and the post-operative follow-up appointments also seem to vary. What does this depend on?

The method of laser vision correction is selected on the basis of the measurements and examinations carried out during the eligibility assessment. The timing of the post-operative follow-up appointment also depends on the treatment method chosen. Following procedures such as SBK LASIK or Femto LASIK, the first follow-up examination usually takes place the next day. In contrast, after surface-based treatments such as TransPRK or LASEK, the follow-up appointment is typically scheduled one week after the procedure. For this reason, we generally recommend that patients travelling from abroad plan to stay in Poland for at least one week. This allows sufficient time for the post-operative check-up and ensures quick access to the Eye Care Centre should any questions or concerning symptoms arise during the early recovery period.

Q: Can corneal cross-linking be carried out on both eyes during the same procedure? I have keratoconus, which is more advanced in one eye.

Corneal cross-linking is always preceded by a thorough eligibility assessment, during which the severity of the keratoconus is evaluated and the most appropriate treatment approach is selected. Two techniques are commonly used: Epi-off cross-linking, which involves removing the corneal epithelium, and Epi-on cross-linking, performed without epithelial removal. If keratoconus affects both eyes, treatment is generally recommended for both eyes as early as possible. Early intervention offers the best chance of slowing or halting progression of the condition.

Q: I experience dry eyes in the evening and during prolonged computer use. Could this be Dry Eye Syndrome?

Not every case of dry eye indicates Dry Eye Syndrome (DES). The sensation of dryness may be related, among other factors, to prolonged computer use, as we tend to blink less frequently when focusing on a screen, which leads to faster evaporation of the tear film and drying of the eye surface. Symptoms may also worsen in the evening, with eye fatigue, or under the influence of factors such as air conditioning, dust, or dry air. However, if the symptoms occur regularly and persist over time, it is advisable to undergo a specialist ophthalmic examination to determine the underlying cause and initiate appropriate treatment.

Q: Will I be able to drive myself home after upper eyelid surgery?

You should not drive immediately after upper eyelid surgery. Following the procedure, dressings are placed over the eyes, which can temporarily restrict vision. In addition, patients are given oral medication, including sedatives, which may affect concentration and reaction time. For this reason, we recommend arriving with someone who can accompany you home or arranging alternative transport in advance. By the following day, once the dressings have been removed at home, there are usually no contraindications to driving again.
