I am interested in undergoing a laser vision correction at you facility. I am currently undergoing an anti-acne treatment. I am taking AKNENORMIN 20mg, at 60mg/day. The drug dries the skin and my dermatologist. I personally do not feel as if my eyes were ‘dry’. My question is: Is taking this drug a contraindication for the surgery? I should add that I am very determined to undergo the surgery as soon as possible. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Acne and the mentioned anti-acne pharmacotherapy are not contraindications for a laser vision correction procedure, as long as the disease is mostly cured, without visible manifestations, and the mentioned drugs are the last stage of the therapy.
Eruptions and purulent inflammation are contraindications – they may cause infectious corneitis after the surgery. Eyes which are dried due to anti-acne drugs should be moisturised with appropriate eye drops (artificial tears). What is more, for the night, a special moisturising gel should be applied to alleviate the healing process.
