I am interested in undergoing a laser vision correction surgery, but I have a couple of questions connected with the procedure:
Is breastfeeding a contraindication to the surgery?
I have read the information that it is necessary to wear special eye shields for the first 7 nights after the procedure – would it be a problem if I get up a few times at night (due to taking care of a small baby)?

Lactation constitutes a temporary contraindication to undergoing a laser vision correction.
The surgery cannot be scheduled earlier than at least 3 months after the termination of breastfeeding. The hormonal balance has to be restored before you can undergo the procedure as it will affect the test results obtained during the qualifying examination and hence also the results of the surgery itself.

It is recommended that the patient sleeps in the eye shields to make sure the eyes are not accidentally rubbed against a pillow or that the patient does not unconsciously hit themselves on the eye with their hand. If you need to get up at night, you would have to take the shields off every time you get up and put them back on when you return to bed. The shields are transparent so you could see through them, but the question remains if the baby would not get scared when seeing you wearing them on your eyes
