Prior to the labour you should have an ophthalmologic examination so that a doctor can check whether there are not any aberrations in the corneal topography and corneal thickness as well as examine the eye fundus in order to rule out any degenerative changes or potential retinal holes, which sometimes occur in short-sighted patients and increase the risk of retinal detachment, especially in case of heavy physical activity and higher refractive errors. It has to be remembered that laser vision correction does not affect the condition of the retina or the changes of the eye fundus, but only reshapes the cornea. If the above changes are ruled out, there are no contraindications to a natural birth.
