I have doubts about one particular question from your qualifying TEST: My vision has been stable for the past year’. There was a time when my error was stable (2011/2012), but then I started working in an office (8 hours a day in front of a computer) and my vision started to deteriorate further (by 0.25 D every 12-18 months).Currently, I find my contact lenses too weak (-3.25 D). Is the constant deterioration of my visual impairment a contraindication for a laser vision correction? What is more, does taking oral contraceptives influence the decision about the surgery in any way?

Change of the refractive power of the glasses is not always connected with progression of the error. It can happen that weaker lenses are prescribed intentionally to make the eye work harder. That is why you should not rely on the power of the glasses you were prescribed but rather on the actual refractive error. If you have results of your past examinations – please take them for the qualifying examination to allow the doctor to compare them with current state of your eyes. Hormonal imbalance may influence the healing process negatively, that’s why it is advisable not to go off oral contraception during the 3 months preceding the operation and for 6 months after it.
