During registration we advise patients to come to the examination without any make-up, especially on the eyes or in the area directly around them. Apart from the hygienic aspects, such as leaving make-up traces on the ophthalmological equipment, what we also need to remember about is that beauty products may cause irritation or allergic reactions of the conjunctiva and/or the eyelids.

Make-up removal performed at the clinic, directly before the examination, is not recommended either – rubbing the eyelids with a cotton pad soaked in make-up remover may lead to eye irritation as well.
