I suffer from -11.00 D refractive error in both eyes and from astigmatism. Is there any chance I could undergo laser vision correction? Are there any other methods available for me?
Is astigmatism a separate condition? I have heard that it is only possible to correct astigmatism not greater than -6.00? How does it look like? Is there any chance I could get rid of my heavy glasses? :(

The WaveLight EX500 excimer laser, which we have in our Centre, is capable of correcting refractive errors form -14D to +6D and astigmatism up to 6D. The refractive error you mention is then possible to correct. However, it is crucial that you undergo a qualifying examination during which precise measurements to determine the degree of your refractive error as well as the thickness and the shape of the cornea will be taken. Only after acquisitions of this data the operating surgeon will be able to predict the outcome of the surgery.
