My refractive error is -7 in both eyes, I also suffer from astigmatism (-1). For over a year now, I have been wearing contact lenses daily. I have heard that I would have to stop wearing contact lenses for 7 days before the procedure. Is that true? I am asking because I don’t own my old glasses anymore and I would have to buy a new pair – which would be a remarkable expense. Greeting, thanks in advance for your response.

Before the laser vision correction procedure you mustn’t wear contact lenses for a period of 7 days. The lenses, when worn, change the shape of the cornea. Such change may interfere with the outcomes of the surgery. In order to achieve optimal results the eyes should ‘rest’ and the cornea should have time to go back to its natural shape.
