One-day procedure

Laser vision correction is a very popular procedure all over the world. It is quick and painless, and it guarantees immediate vision improvement.
During the surgery, the surface of the cornea is remodelled with the use of an excimer laser, which enables the image to be properly focused on the retina and in consequence guarantees good visual acuity, permanent correction results, and life without glasses and contact lenses.

The entire procedure is preceded by a thorough qualification examination in order to rule out any contraindications. The examination results remain valid for a period of three months, giving the patient the freedom to choose a convenient date for the procedure. To save time, many patients choose the one-day procedure, which involves both the qualification examination and the laser vision correction being carried out on the same day.

What is the one-day procedure like?

On the appointed day, you arrive at a pre-arranged time for a qualifying examination, which lasts about an hour. After a break of a few hours (about 5 hours – time for pupil constriction, after the drops administered at the examination), you return for the procedure at the scheduled time. The planned total appointment time for the procedure, including patient preparation and rest after the procedure, is about 45 minutes.

The first follow-up appointment will take place according to the method used – the day (FemtoLASIK / SBK LASIK) or a week after the procedure (TransPRK and LASEK).

Highlights

  • You should stop using soft contact lenses a minimum of 7 days before the daily procedure. For hard or toric (cylindrical – correcting astigmatism) lenses, the time is a minimum of 3-4 weeks.

  • For those with chronic illnesses, it is necessary to provide a certificate stating what medications they are taking, in what dosage, and whether the illness is stabilized over a period of time.

  • On the day of the one-day procedure, the body must be free of any infections and inflammations (including colds, herpes, inflammation in the oral cavity).

  • After the qualifying examination, no driving is allowed for about 3-4 hours, and after the procedure until the first follow-up visit.

  • The desire to receive a ZUS ZLA exemption, must be reported to the doctor at the qualifying examination. The same applies to any certificates.

  • Subsequent follow-up visits – if scheduled by the attending surgeon or if the Patient self-reports – are paid according to the current price list.

What does the patient receive after the procedure?

  • Information card with information about the date of the first follow-up appointment.

  • Instructions for proper eye drops administration.

  • A set of drugs needed for a month of use.

  • Eye shields, for use during the first 7 nights.

  • Sick leave or medical certificate – if necessary.

It only takes one day to enjoy sharp vision without glasses!
